Psalms 4

Answer Me When I Call

To the achoirmaster: with bstringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

1 Answer me when I call, O God of my crighteousness!
You have dgiven me relief when I was in distress.
Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!
2 O men,
Or  O men of rank
how long shall my honor be turned into shame?
How long will you love vain words and seek after flies?  Selah
3But know that the Lord has gset apart hthe godly for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.
4 iBe angry,
Or  Be agitated
and do not sin;
kponder in your own hearts lon your beds, and be silent.  Selah
5Offer mright sacrifices,
and put your ntrust in the Lord.
6 There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?
oLift up pthe light of your face upon us, O Lord!”
7You have put qmore joy in my heart
than they have when their grain and wine abound.
8 In peace I will both rlie down and sleep;
for you alone, O Lord, make me sdwell in safety.

Psalms 132

The Lord Has Chosen Zion

A Song of tAscents.

1 Remember, O Lord, in David’s favor,
all uthe hardships he endured,
2how he swore to the Lord
and vvowed to wthe Mighty One of Jacob,
3“I will not enter my house
or get into my bed,
4I will not xgive sleep to my eyes
or slumber to my eyelids,
5until I yfind a place for the Lord,
a dwelling place for zthe Mighty One of Jacob.”
6 Behold, we heard of it in aaEphrathah;
we found it in abthe fields of Jaar.
7“Let us go to his dwelling place;
let us acworship at his adfootstool!”
8 aeArise, O Lord, and go to your afresting place,
you and the ark of your agmight.
9Let your ahpriests be aiclothed with righteousness,
and let your ajsaints shout for joy.
10For the sake of your servant David,
akdo not turn away the face of alyour anointed one.
11 amThe Lord swore to David a sure oath
anfrom which he will not turn back:
ao“One of the sons of your body
Hebrew  of your fruit of the womb

I will set on your throne.
12If your sons keep my covenant
and my testimonies that I shall teach them,
their sons also forever
shall aqsit on your throne.”
13 For the Lord has archosen Zion;
he has asdesired it for his dwelling place:
14This is my atresting place forever;
here I will audwell, for I have desired it.
15I will abundantly avbless her provisions;
I will awsatisfy her poor with bread.
16Her axpriests I will clothe with salvation,
and her aysaints will shout for joy.
17There I will make aza horn to sprout for David;
I have prepared baa lamp for bbmy anointed.
18His enemies I will bcclothe with shame,
but on him his crown will shine.”
